if you want to make a console game keep these things in mind. kind of a pros and cons.
Cons.
-youll need a dev kit, these cost from 10K-20K usually, if you are established you can get this lowered if they want to work with you. $
-youll need someone who knows how to develop for console. $
-youll need to be able to hit deadlines set by your publisher in order to get into promos.
-youll need to get your game localized $
-youll need to get an ESRB for your game $
-you might need to add console specific elements that can extend dev time.
-there is a very high % chance that you wont make as much $ on console as on pc at this point in time. so youll need to also still release it for pc to make it count.
-consoles tend to want exclusive time, from a month to a year they will expect you to set them as priority and ask for exclusive time and content for their version of the game.
-this might be changing but in the past its been very hard and costly to update/patch your game on console.
-you wont have control over when your game gets a sale and what % off it will be.
-you might need to pay someone to look over your contracts or revise them so you dont get fucked over.
-it is much harder to get a console deal than a steam deal or the like.
Pros.
-You only need to dev for one system spec set. this makes the programmers job a lot easier and there will be less bugs.
- Youll get some help with the press and gain a few more ins with specific websites that cover console related stuff.
-You might get opportunities to show your game at cons for free.
-For some reason people will take your game a bit ore seriously when you are on console.
hope that helps.
