its hard to give good advice on this subject because its something i currently struggle with myself.
these days its hard to find an article on equality that doesnt direct hatred towards a common enemy.. and sadly i fall into the race, sexuality, gender and now socioeconomic status of that enemy. its amazingly frustrating and hurtful, mostly due to the fact that i stand by the same message of equality and have always been an extremely liberal person.. but not a week goes by where my race/gender/sexuality isnt used to stereo type me as a hateful bigoted asshole.
like ive said before, it seems like the internet is quite void of compassion, even when coming from a place of equality, things seem to get tainted by “acceptable hatred” and racism that seems to somehow go over the heads of those using it.
its cool these days to say “all straight white men are born with privilege and have it easy” even though we all know how untrue that is and how racist and generalized it is… yet its fine to say! no one thinks saying something like that could be hurtful or damaging to a kid growing up who doesnt at all have it easy, yet reflects on this, now accepted fact and feels even more like shit because of it.
its amazing how closed minded some of these people can be, and it makes it much worse for me because i fully support the foundation of what they stand for. i just dont support closed minded zealots void of compassion and understanding.
my best advice is to stay out of it, it will only annoy you more, you arent going to give perspective to someone who isnt looking for a truly balanced view of the world. every persons life/upbringing/sexuality/religion/gender/etc are very exclusive and specific to the person, we all live very different lives, experiences and view things completely differently.
i dunno i could rant about this all night, hypocrites are just one of many instances of people that annoy the hell out of me..
