well unrated or nc-17 films can still do fine these days, AO gams not so much. i dont think ratings matter much at all these days on the internet, you dont even need esrb to sell on steam and you sure as hell dont need anything to sell your games yourself.
but AO ratings exist so people can brag about aquiring them :)
